IE Search Program

My new Compaq (HP) computer has overridden the IE6 Search
Companion with its own so-called Search program which is
useless. I tried re-downloading IE6 and that didn't help
in recovering the IE6 Search companion. Does anyone know
how I can recover it? Or do I have to deal with Compaq?
