View Full Version : REQ: Problem with 'Error Reporting'!

I have XP Pro full. I want to disable error reporting. I read in the
newsgroup that the following works:
Right Click the My Computer
Icon/Properties/Advanced/Error Reporting
However when i go to the Advanced window, I see no error reporting
item to set off or on or whatever.
Funny part is, I have been using this XP for some time now, and I
remember seeing that selection. However I had a crash due to a
probable worm, and I completely reformatted the drive and reinstalled
my XP plus apps. So, this XP is the same as the prior except that I
reinstalled it. Did I miss something?
Thanks

Maybe the Error Reporting Service is not running. Check this in the
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
If this is the case, no further action is required to turn off Error
Reporting.

Interesting
It showed it to be 'started' along with many other services. I
stopped it but I still wonder why it didn't show up.
Oh well...
Thanks

Did you fiddle around with the settings in GPEDIT.MSC? You can disable
access to Error Reporting here as well.
