can't save files

Help... when I attempt a save as function in any of the
MS applications [e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint] my system
locks up. It happens when I attempt to find the location
to save to. any ideas?

Try a save first. Then try Save As.

Sounds a little silly but if you have just compiled the document letting
the program save the file will sometimes clear its memory enough so that it
can do something else more efficiently such as Save As.

If you've just opened an existing document and this happens, then I have no
suggestions. May want to ask this question in one of the Office newsgroups.
