View Full Version : Slow right clicking

I am using Xp Pro and for some reason lately when I right click to cut,
copy, properties, etc... the hour glass shows up and it seems to take a
quite a while longer than it used to then it does nothing to include giving
me the right click menu. I click again, then it shows up faster. Select
another file, and the process starts all over. Nothing has really changed in
my computer nor my right click menu to warrant this. Any ideas or
suggestion? Thanks.

Your system is probably clogged with unnecessary files, such as cookies, on and offline internet files and unwanted temporary files. Do a complete cleanup. After that Defrag your harddrive.

Are you by any chance running Norton stuff. The last update is causing
the problem you describe.

Right-click on your IE desktop icon and select:
Properties > Advanced and scroll down to the
Security heading. Uncheck the box next to
"Check for publisher's certificate revocation"
and click "apply" and reboot.
It appears that all the NAV files are signed with a certificate
that expired 1/7/2004. Every time it tries to use a file, it's going
out to VeriSign to see if it's really expired and if there's a new
certificate available.
Hopefully Symantec will correct this issue soon.

This bulletin may be applicable if you have Norton installed:
After updating to the January 7th or 8th virus definitions, your computer slows
down and Microsoft Word and Excel will not start
