The sound recorder program under accessories is limited to a 1 minute
duration. How can a larger file be recorded?

Hi,

When you get to the end (it says 60 seconds) just hit the record button =
again, and another 60 session will add-on, and you will have to =
experiment timing what you have to say into the mic when recording. You =
can do this on and on. Or, you can record total silence (which is never =
really achieved) and edit that file into itself "saving as" until you do =
this so many times that you have the desired time frame you want. You =
then record over that with your voice, etc. The first way is the =
easiest, and fastest way.

If you want to be even faster about it, you can get any program out =
there for free that converts MP3s into wave files (Sound Recorder will =
only open a .wav format). Make a copy of an MP3 you may have that has, =
let's say 4 mins on it (dont use the original without making a copy). =
Take that copy and convert it into a wave file, then just simply record =
over it, and edit out what you don't want.

DbpowerAmp does this easily, and it is totally free here;

Download CDex. It will record unlimited. I have used it to digitize old
audio tapes that had no-longer-available material and I was then able to
copy it to CD. There are even programs you can download that will slice up
the resulting monster wav file into tracks.
