View Full Version : MS WOrd Status Bar

I am teaching a class in MS Word XP. The status bar is
needed to type the sample letters appropriately but on
just a few of my PCs the status bar is dimmed. I went to
Tools-Options to select the status bar to view but it was
already selected. Any ideas on why the status bar is
still dimmed and thus unusable?

1) There is no such thing as Word XP - that is the name given to the Office
suite that contains the individual applications with the version suffix
2002.
2) This is a WINDOWS XP group - why are you posting here? Wouldn't your
question be better addressed to an Office or, better still, a Word group?

Office XP is the name of the M$ office suite product, so why can't the Word
application in it be referred to as Word XP?

Because that's wrong - that's the name for the suite only - the individual
products should be referred to by the year.

Let's solve real problems and allow others to be corporately correct.

Only for Office XP, not for Office Suites in general. Office 97 contained
Word 6, I believe. Office 2003 contains Word 2003. Microsoft loves to
screw with naming.
