dvd rom has sound but no picture

i have an hp 953n running win xp home edition. when i first got my pc
the dvd rom played movies without a problem, but as of two days ago when
i tried to play a dvd movie i would see the warning message at the
beginning of the movie but when it gets to the menu or movie all it has
is sound without a picture.
i uninstalled the dvd software and restarted the pc then i reinstalled
the dvd software and restarted the pc, but that didn't seem to help at
all.
i have searched the hp site, it didn't help. i searched the net looking
for similar problems, but couldn't find any.
if anybody can help at all i would greatly appreciate it.

Jim

You need to find the latest version of your video drivers. I has the
same problem a while back.
