System Restore does not work. I have plenty of hard drive
space, System Restore is running and monitoring my hard
drive. However, for each restore point, I get a message
that the restoration to the System Restore Checkpoint has
failed. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Once it gets buggered up, the best thing to do is stop and restart it. This
results in the loss of all existing restore points, but it wasn't working
anyways. Start/run services.msc, scroll down to the SR service and
double-click it. "Stop" the service, then set the startup type to disabled.
Reboot, then reverse the steps.

Thanks. Before I stop and restart it, is there anyway I
can get System Restore to work? Mouse and keyboard have
suddenly been freezing today, and I wanted to go back to
a prior restore point before considering more drastic
fixes.

I had a similar problem. Fixed it by de-fragging my drive.

Hi,

Generally, no. But doing that may not help your problem anyways. Freezing
can usually be attributed to background interference, so you may need to
look at anything that was recently installed or updated.
