View Full Version : Install of XP on a new drive

Here's some more information on a post that I have below.

I bought an OEM version of XP that is not bootable. That
means that I have to have the old drive in there.

My hard drive is going bad and I would like to install XP
on a new hard drive that I just bought.

I physcially installed the drive and had put the XP CD in
the CD drive. But I'm worried that the install program
might install XP over the old drive instead of the new
drive that I just bought.

How do I make sure that it will install on the new
drive? And remember, I need to have the old drive in
there.

There are no OEM XP versions that are not bootable. If you purchased one
that isn't, it is probably counterfeit. Have you set your bios boot order to
boot from CD before hard drive?
