desktop icons

How do i change the space bewteen my desktop icons? I
upgraded to Windows XP & now my icons are on top of each
other. I have tried auto arrange, snap to grid & every
other obvious option that comes up when you right click
on the desktop. Now what?

Control Panel
-> Display
--> Appearance tab
---> Advanced button

In "items" box find icon horiz/vert items
and adjust as desired

I believe default on 600x800 screen is
43 horiz and vert.
