View Full Version : Unable to resolve address with ping -a

I am unable to resolve computer names with ping -a. I
have my dns set up correctly and my server is set up
correctly.
Computer names (as on a LAN) use network name resolution not dns. URLs use
DNS.
A firewall could be disrupting pings, have you tried pinging their IP
address.

Also some IP addresses don't have DNS names, or the names are not available
for reverse lookup.
