I keep getting the following error when attempting to
access my network drive in explorer. An error occurred
while reconnecting G: to \\server name\username.
Microsoft windows network: The local device name is
already in use. This connection has not been restored.

The network is up and running fine. This has happened 6
times today already. Anybody got any clues why this
keeps happening?

See if the G: letter is not already taken by another device (e.g. CDROM,
other network share, etc...).
