I am trying to network an xp home pc with a Win 98 pc through a
Linksys
Cable/DSL router with a 4-port switch. I've assigned both machines to
the same workgroup. Here's my problem:

When logged on as an administrator on the xp home pc, I try to access
a shared folder on that same pc. I get an error message says that the
path "is not accessible" ... "You might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server ..."
I've checked the folder properties; it's definitely set up for
sharing. When I try to access this same folder from the Win 98 pc, I
get an error message saying that I am out of memory and should quit
some programs.

Note: I can access shared folders on the Win 98 pc from the xp home pc
or from the Win 98 pc with no problems. Also, I can access the
internet from either pc. I don't know what to do.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

The "out of memory" message is probably happening because an antivirus
program changed an obscure TCP/IP setting. Please see this Microsoft
Knowledge Base article for a likely solution, specifying a value of 15
for IRPStackSize on the XP computer:
