Im trying to set up a xp home computer and a windows 98
computer. I have the network set up, but I want to be able
to see exactly what the 98 machine is doing (the current
screen)si I can monitor what my children are doing. I also
want to remotely administer the 98 machine to make
neccessary fixes. How do I set both machines UP. I try to
share the 98 machine but it asks where the user list is
kept. How do I create a user list. Please email me the
solution at .\
Thanks in advance
Mike

I'm replying by email, as you requested, and in the news group.

A user list requires a server computer on the network, and neither 98
nor XP can fill that role. On 98, go to Control Panel | Network |
Access Control and change from user-level access control to
share-level access control.

To monitor the kids' computer, you can use RealVNC. Run it as a
service on their computer, and run the viewer on yours. It's
available free at http://www.realvnc.com
