In previous versions of Windows, if you reshaped a window
or moved it, the next time you opened that window it
would be in the new shape, size, and position you last
left it in. I can't find any way to do that with Windows
XP. And I can't find any reference to the problem
anywhere.

Hi Brad,
Stretch the window to the size wanted with the double arrows, then use
File/Close or Exit.
