My new computer has xp installed. I just tried to move
files from my old win 98 computer to my new one using
Intellimover. Now, I cannot shut down my new computer
except by cutting off its power. How do I remove
everything (programs and files) from my new computer
except XP, so I can start over again? Thanks very much.

Steve;
The best way would be system Restore:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore
Then choose a date/time before problem started.

Try these:

Hi Jupiter -- thanks very much for the fast and very
effective response. I restored my settings back to the
beginning and proceeded successfully from there. Now, I
have another question. How do I copy all my email
messages, address book, and message rules from my old win
98 computer to my new xp computer? Steve

Hi Jupiter -- one last question (I hope). I have tried
to load Norton System Works 2003 twice. Each time, I was
able to load it but each time afterwards, I was not able
to shut down my computer. Thanks to your earlier advice,
I went to system restore and got out ok. But, I really
would like to use the System Works, or at least the anti-
virus and utilities portions. Do you have any
suggestions? Thanks again. Steve

Steve;
Perform Live Update (you may have to do it several times)
After you can reboot and get a message that you are up to date with
Live Update, try shutdown again.

Otherwise contact symantec:
