Shutdown Problem

Hi. I recently upgraded to windows XP form windows 98.
The problem I've been having is that before I upgraded, I
was able to shut down the computer automatically after I
selected shutdown. But now that I have upgraded my
computer doesn't shutdown automatically anymore. If
someone could please help me correct this problem I would
greatly appreciate it. Thanks to all that reply.
