I can't seem to get rid of "owner" as a log on user. I
have changed the name after installation (via Control
Panel > Users), but some software log in windows still
grab "owner", instead of my account name, which is
admistrator level.

Do I have to reinstall XP and select my name instead
of "owner" - originally installed by PC supplier.

Thanks for any help.

"owner" is the logon name and profile path name, no matter what you
change the Welcome Screen name to be.

I recommend you use a limited user account for routine email and
browsing and save the owner account for your routine system
administration. Leave Administrator for emergency admin use (in case
owner gets hosed). Enable fast user switching via User Accounts control
panel to fast-switch as needed between accounts.
