The new computer is computer is playing tricks on me.
I've scheduled a partial backup of the data on a daily
basis which is to replace the old backup file. I
scheduled it so that it has an hour to do its job before
anything else is scheduled. I know from doing a manual
backup that it takes only 15 minutes from start to
finish. I also know that the file should be approximately
815 MB in size.

Every morning when I look at the new backup file I'm
amazed at what I see. It can be 100 MB one day and 400 MB
another. When I run it manually from the Scheduled Tasks
window it stops at different places in the backup
process, never at any one file.

I have recreated the backup task numerous times to make
sure that it is done right. The same problem keeps
occurring. Am I delusional or is there a problem with the
utility?

What type of backup do have selected in Tools/Options/BackUp Type tab. This
setting can make a big difference in the files and size of the daily back
up.

In setting up the scheduler, the selection is "normal"
and "replace the existing file".
