Whoops, hit the wrong key.
I have a Dell Pentium III/500 which I recently upgraded to XP Home (full
install or a clean hard disk) and added a Wireless LAN using a Linksys
WUSB11 adapter and a Thomson Speedtouch Hub/DSL Router.
Whenever I log off or shutdown - from all 3 accounts which I have set up - I
must do so twice. The first time closes running programs ... such as IE,
Explorer etc and in the tray the icons for Norton Antivirus, Internet
Security and the Linksys Wireless LAN monitor close. After that nothing else
happens and the computer remains fully functional including WLAN access.
Remaining in the tray are Network Connections, Volume and Safely Remove
Devices.
If I want to logoff or shutdown I must then select it again. From this point
the logoff/shutdown proceeds normally: desktop "grays out" and so forth. I
do NOT have a problem with Restart when I want Poweroff or similar.
I have uninstalled MSN Explorer, Messenger and both Norton programmes but it
doesn't make any difference.
Help appreciated. Dave
