upgrade from xp home to xp professional

I just bought this Presario laptop,It came with XP Home
Edition and I would like to up grade to XP Professional
Edition. Do I have to buy xp pro and reinstall it or is
there an upgrade available?

You can buy the WinXP Pro Upgrade. You can easily upgrade from
WinXP Home to WinXP Pro. Of course, there are no iron-clad, 100%
guarantees when it comes to updating any kind of computer software,
much less an operating system. WinXP is designed to install and
upgrade the existing operating system while simultaneously preserving
your applications and data and translating as many personalized
settings as possible. The process is designed to be, and normally is,
quite painless. That said, things can go wrong, in a small number of
cases. If your data is at all important to you, back it up before
proceeding.

Be advised, however, that changing the OS to anything other than
what shipped with the laptop will probably void your warranty.
