I've just had Broadband installed Telwest Blueyonder),
and my PC keeps crashing to the blue screen saying that
there is a problem to do with the above.
The cable modem is a Motorola SB4100 and is connected to
my computer via a USB connection. I can connect to the
internet, but my computer has crashed about 8 times in
the last 3 hours with the above message.
Help ....!??

Try going to Motorola's sites to get an updated driver.

Get a Network card, and get rid of the USB. You will never look back!

Slap my face! That comment was not really helpful. Here's what I would
try with the USB connection:
First, verify that you have a CD with an XP compatible USB network
adapter driver. Make absolutely certain that it is the newest XP driver
available. If the USB adapter vendor is known, go to its web site,
support, and see if there is a newer driver available. Download it if
you can. Do not install it yet.
After verifying that you have a driver, From Start/Control
panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager look for entries having to do with
the USB network adapter. (you must have the USB adapter connected).
Remove everything relating to the USB network adapter. Shut down.
Disconnect the adapter and reboot. Install the driver for the USB
network adapter (do NOT have it connected!). Shut down. Connect the USB
adapter. Restart. The adapter should find its driver.
Go to Start / Help and Support /Networking and the Web and reestablish
your internet connection. You will have to have the following:
, your password, a computer name, if required, the
address of your mail servers POP3 and SMTP - both might be the same:
mail.myISP.net or something like that, and your news server name
netnews.myISP.net, or something like that. This info should be on the
invoice or other doc you got when the modem was installed.
