XP mystery?

Something happens to my system that show these symptoms:Whenever I start any
XP Office Standard Apps and try to open a file the save dialog pops up and
can only be exited using task manager.When I start Spider Solitaire the
'Difficulty' window does not appear and I also can't highlight text in
IE6.There maybe more but this is all I've spotted. It maybe a hardware prob
'cos a restart often cures. All my progs are legit and I'm at my wits end.
I've reformatted twice now so hardware seems to be the prob. No virus or
trojans detected.Anyone seen anything like this?Many Thanks.

What does the Event Log (Control Panel, Admin Tools) say is happening when
this happens?

Have you run a full antivirus check with updated signatures recently (if you
don't have antivirus software, you can download AVG from www.grisoft.com for
FREE for personal use)?

Have you run a check for Spyware (AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com is FREE
for personal use)?
