Does anyone know why I would have a problem with opening
Word 97, Word Pad and Word Perfect when I am disconnected
from my home network? All 3 will open just fine when my
laptop that is running xp Home is connected to my home
network that also has a Win 98 desktop machine but when I
try to open any of the 3 programs the get different errors
and end up not opening. Word 97 and Word Pad both open and
then have to close right away and Word Perfect won't open
at all. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Word Pad and Word Perfect came installed on the machine
from Dell. I loaded Word 97 myself off my Office 97 disk
set.

Greetings --

I don't see how the presence or absence of the network can have
any affect then. Have you tried removing and reinstalling the
applications while not connected to the network?

I tried removing and then reinstalling Word 97 last night
and it still does the same thing. I have seperate users
set up on the laptop and I did go in under my wifes user
name and by going through Windows Explorer I was able to
open Word 97. I couldn't open Word Pad or Word Perfect
under here user name though.
