I have XP home edition with dial-up internet service.
I find when I enter my password and rtain it. that the next
time I call it up, my password is replaced by a long
string. What can I do to resolve this?

Les;
Does it work if you leave it alone?
It is part of normal security to conceal the actual length of the
password.

This is by design. The number of asterisks or dots does no longer
match the number of characters of the password for additional safety.
