View Full Version : Giving access to other users using XP

I can't seem to figure out how to let other people access
my computer over our internal network. I can see the
users on the network but when you try to access a
computer it requires a user name and password. I can't
figure out how and where to set up new network users.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you are in workgroup configuration, then you would need to have an
account for each user who wants to connect. That's one of the big advantages
of having a domain - you can authenticate and share files using domain
logins, so you don't have to configure things at the machine level. A
"network user" is not something that is separate from a local user until you
get a domain.
