Customer purchased new computer then returned it. He
already registered xp. can this be undone?

No, but the next customer can change the registration:
Microsoft Registration: Start > Run and type: REGWIZ /R ,=20
and hit enter.

Some NG posters claim XP registration can be undone via sustained usage :*)

Are you referring to "Registering" or "Activation"? These are two different
things.
