View Full Version : Runtime Error in Internet Explorer

I'm hoping that someone out there can provide me with
solid information which I have not been able to obtain
from IBM or Microsoft.
When I am on the internet, I ultimately receive the
following message:
Runtime Error!
Progarm: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
R6025
-pure virtual function call
OK
When I click on the O.K., explorer shuts down and I'm
back at my desktop. I can immediately return to the
Internet but if I have been on for a long time, it can
be difficult to return to the samed page-sub-page.
Does anyone have any ideas re: how I can stop this "run-
time" error from occurring?

While searching on your error message on http://www.google.com/
I came across this article which may or may not be related:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2002092316375206?Open&src=&docid=2002090915114106&nsf=nav.nsf&view=pfdocs&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=
If that article is of no help,
then I suggest we take out the old 12 gauge...
Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab
Delete all cookies, temporary internet files (include all offline files), remove all
downloaded program files (click on "settings" button and then "view objects" button)
Clear History
Control Panel | Internet Options | Advanced tab | Browsing section
We want "Disable script debugging" checked
We want to uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)
Click Apply and OK at the bottom of Internet Options
Restart computer
Start> Run> type in "msconfig" (without quotes) click OK
If System Configuration Utility is in Normal Startup,
just click "Cancel" at the bottom.
If it is not in Normal Startup, put it in Normal and then
click Apply and then Close and then click on Restart
Computer restarts
Now let's go on the Internet and download an Anti Spyware program
and scan for spywares and delete them:
Ad-aware 6.0 build 181

Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.2
http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10194058.html?tag=list
After all of that has been done, test to see if the issue has
been resolved.
If not resolved, then try clean boot troubleshooting:
(remember that the goal of using MSCONFIG is to identify
the problem and eliminate it and be able to put MSCONFIG
back to Normal)

By the way, when you say that Microsoft was no help,
does that mean that you called them for support?
If so and you have a case number on file with them,
you can always call them back for further troubleshooting.
