Situtation:
I have a peer-to-peer network with (1) XP Pro machine and
(4) XP Home systems.

I have an 8 port hub connect to a 4 port router/hub,
connected to a cablemodem box.
All systems can access the Internet.
All systems are members of the same workgroup
All have IP addresses assigned by a router using DHCP
(I've check to make sure the addresses are all correct)
All have NETBios over TCPIP enabled.
None of them are using a firewall.

The XP Home systems can all see each other and access
each other. They also can see the XP Pro machine, but
cannot access it - they get a you do not have permission
error.

The XP Pro system, cannot see any of the computers, nor
itself. It gets a you do not have rights to the
workgroup error.
----

Things tried:
------------
Making the Pro a member of a different workgroup and then
going back into the original workgroup.

Removing the network card driver and reinstalling it.

Turning on services that I didn't think were necessary -
but any shot in the dark.

-------------
I'm at a loss - but am happy to see that I'm not the only
one with the problem!!!

Please HELP!!!

Karol

if the xp pro has been enabled sharing, it should see itself. make sure you
have enable it and have some folders shared. or post the result of net share
command here.

Karol,

please have a look at http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm.
Apart from the firewall there are a few issues around the guest
account access which is required when you deal with XP Home.

Hans-Georg.
