Hi, my pc is currently running linux red hat 8. My
question is how do i remove it so i can install windows XP?
i've looked at a few guides on removing but i have very
limited knowledge of unix systems. Any help would be much
appreciated.

Hi Mike,

Well, the first thing you need to do is decide what to save, then copy it
off to floppy or CD.

Then you need to repartition the drive. You can do this several ways. You
can run a zero-write utility and wipe the drive completely, these are
commonly available from the drive maker. You can run a linux boot disk and
remove (delete) the ext and swap partitions. You can also use a third-party
partitioning utility for this.

Once the drive is empty, boot the WinXP CD. In the course of setup, you will
need to create a supported partition and file system (I would suggest NTFS),
then format and install WinXP.
