How to weed out all the crap. Where can you get inquiries
on some of the auto updates? Keep going in a circle on
some of the links provided.

You can always go to the Windows Update site and click the Read More link
for the update. Additionally, if the update has a QXXXXXX number, there
should be an associated KB article on the topic.

Go here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;KBJUMP and
enter the 6 digit number.
