We bought a computer with Win XP already installed on it
and immediately activated it when we started it up the
first time. This CPU, however, turned out to be bad so we
sent it back to the manufacturer for an exchange on a new
CPU. When the new CPU arrived - it also had XP installed
on it already - we attempted to activate it and the error
message came up saying that our product key was no longer
valid because it had been used on the CPU we returned to
the manufacturer. When we contacted the manufacturer
about this error, they told us to contact Microsoft for a
new product key. I live in Japan and don't have the
ability to call the states toll free, so the only other
option is to get online help, which is not available for
windows activation issues. Any ideas?
