I have XPPro and set it up as a workgroup, since I have only 2 PCs involved.

I thought I could get away with an administrator only account since I have no
security problems. Turns out that even though I automatically log on to the
program, there is an "all users" folder, as well as another folder under my
name. When I install a new program, it goes into the all users area.
Consequently, I have files in each folder and no knowledge of how to keep them
synched. AS a result, many desktop and start up items change randomly.

Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks....

When any account logs on, its desktop and start menu are a composite of two
items:

\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

And the matching folders belonging to the account currently logged on.

To synch items between two computers on a small home network, use the Shared
Documents folder (in a sense this is the My Documents folder for All Users!)
or investigate "Offline Folders."
