VPN problem, cannot browse

After successfully creating a VPN to my office network, I
cannot browse the domain's shares.
Does anyone have an idea as to why? I can ping the
service by IP. I could not originally ping by name,
however a HOSTS file addition corrected the ping by name
issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
