Hi, I am running microsoft windows xp home edition
version 2002 service pack 1 and I can't find any office
programs like word or excel. How do I get to these
programs or are they not included in the system? thanks
for your input Leslie

They are not included with the operating system.

Some manufacturers install them though on their systems. Click on Start,
Programs, and if you have them, you'll see them listed as Microsoft Word or
Microsoft Excel.

They are not included as part of the base OS. Office must be purchased
separately unless it's obtained via a package deal when purchasing a system
from an large dealer.

Greetings --

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of any Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.

None of these programs are included with Windows XP, nor have
they ever been included with any other version of Windows.

Windows is an operating system, and doesn't come with application
software (unless you want to consider WordPad application
software). If your previous computer running an older version of
Windows came with Word and Excel, it wasn't that they came with
Windows, it was that your vendor chose to bundle them as part of
the package he sold you.

If you want these products you need to buy a copy of Microsoft
Office.
