access control list

I just upgraded to Win XP (home version) and all seems well except for
1 thing.

In IE, I can't access many websites. I get a 403 Forbidden error
message: "You were denied access because: Access denied by access
control list."

Mine is the only profile so I have full administrator access.

In IE options, content advisor is disabled (and it makes no difference
if it is enabled with full access).

I can't search for helpful web pages, because I can't access them.

Any suggestions, please?

SORTED!!!!

It was to do with the Java controls.
It seems that my original virtual machine for Java (Do I sound as if I
know what I'm talking about here??) didn't support XP and I had to
change the default.
