XP Networking - Can and Can't

Can connect to network using XP's Safe Mode with
Networking but not when booted up in regular
mode. I've use msconfig to remove Startups and
Services with no better results in regular mode
though I can ping yahoo.com by name and number.

Suggestions appreciated.
