View Full Version : Problem with desk.cpl

When I try to access the Nvidia graphics card features via the Display
Properties/Settings/Advanced/GeForce4 MX 440 tab I get the following error
message.
"" An exception occured while trying to run " shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL
desk.cpl""
and I cannot view the page.
This is an XPSP1 upgrade to a working well WinME system.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this fault.

Hi Paul,
See if this helps:
Restore Display Icon in Control Panel (Line 203)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
If this doesn't help nor apply:
Insert the CD and open a command prompt window. At the command prompt,
enter:
EXPAND -R X:\I386\DESK.CP_ C:\Windows\System32\dllcache
Then
EXPAND -R X:\I386\DESK.CP_ C:\Windows\System32
to replace both copies.
