View Full Version : Frustrated
I am very new to computers and only use it for music
downloads, internet searches, and other recreational
purposes. I cannot understand why the images come in
patchy from one window to another, and why when popup ads
load, they freeze without completely loading, thereby
freezing or locking the computer. I'm not interested in
popups, but they cause this problem frequently. I run
the XP system, on an AMD Duron(tm) Processor, 846 MHZ and
128MB of Ram. I actually have several problems, but
would appreciate any help with this. Is it possible to
uninstall everything and start over with a clean slate?

Could be, too your Internet temp folder is full if you do a lot of surfing. Within
IE, tools, Internet Options, delete files. Do a general disk clean-up, double-click
my computer, right-click your hard drive icon, disk clean-up. It will take a while.

Open Internet Explorer and click Tools, Internet options, and under
Temporerary Internet Files click Delete Cookies, then click Delete Files,
then go down and Clear History.
Now open Outlook Express and delete all files in the Sent Items Folder,
then clear out the Deleted Items Folder.
Clear out your Trash Bin.
If you are running a screensaver, go here to temporarily shut it down.
Start, Control Panel, Display, Screensaver Tab, and select None.
Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmentor,
then click Defragment.
This will clean up all the "junk" on you puter and should make it run a
little smoother. Would not hurt to do this every month or so depending
on how much you use the puter.
Go here and get yourself a popup stopper, they have a free one.
