This entry comes up in my disk cleanup. Sometimes the entry is huge,
amoutning to a couple of hundred mb.
What is this entry for please? and are the files safe to delete?

I can't give an example. It just has compress old files with a tick box in
disc cleanup

Dont delete them. They are files windows has not used for
awhile and can be compressed to save space. You still
might need them.
