View Full Version : deletion goes wild

I don't know if it is just windows XP or what but since I
got XP if I try to black out more than the number of
lines of text I see on a screen in order to delete
something, the blacked out area goes wild and I end up
deleting much more than I intended to. Is there a way to
slow down the rate of blacking out so I can control how
many lines I get rid of?
Thanks

Some programs are more sensitive than others in this department. When you
run into this problem, try placing the cursor at the start of the selection
(click and hold). Then use the down, left and right arrow and/or the page
down keys to select a block of text.

Sharon F.

I tried your suggestion by placing the cursor at the
start of the selection then left clicking and holding.
Whether I click and hold on the first line or just above
it I get absolutely no reaction whatsoever when I try the
up, down, right or left arrows or page keys. When I black
out a line and try your method, that line just remains
blacked out no matter which of the keys you mentioned are
pressed.

Sorry, Bill.
Try it this way.
Click the mouse at the start of the text that you want to highlight. Release
the mouse button. Press Shift and use the directional keys.

Thanks, Sharon F. This time your suggestion worked like a
champ. I no longer am frustrated.

That's great, Bill. You're welcome and am very glad to hear that worked for
you. I've run into that wild mouse cursor a few times too and it *is* very
frustrating and annoying.
