I ran into the same problem. I purchased a XP Pro disk
and had it installed on another computer. Took it off and
reinstalled Win 98 when I sold the puter. Bought a new
Dell with Home on it and tried to upgrade to Pro. No go.
Even talked with Dell support and they could not solve
the problem. Told me to reformat and reinstall. (NOT) So
I am running Home with the Pro Disk sitting in CD
holder...
