I have a laptop with xp home network to a desktop with xp
professional. From my laptop i can access the shared
cdrom on my desktop, but I cannot acces the shared cdrw.
I know there is networking issues between xp home and xp
pro. My question is thier a way to resolve this with out
upgrading my laptop to xp pro?

I wouldn't say there are any issues between home and pro, just a difference
in authentication.

Can you not see the share or do you get access denied?

And I assume you have confirmed that it is actually shared? On Pro with
Simple File Sharing off, all the drives will be shared for admins by
default, but won't show up in network places. You have to type the names
(they end with a $) explcitly.

Before we go on, do you realize that you won't be able to write CDs over the
network, just read them?
