I am using Windows XP professional on my home machine.
My work issued laptop is using Windows 2000. I am on a
domain at work. I am able to connect to the laptop from
the desktop machine while on the home network by
start/run and the IP. However, when I try to get to the
desktop machine from the laptop with the same method, I
get "The network place could not be added because the
following error has occurred: There are currently no
logon servers available to service the logon request."
This happens no matter what I have tried. Any thoughts?
I did follow the article Q301041 to install NetBeui, but
that didn't help either.

Any thoughts? Sean~

When you connect to the desktop machine specify credentials that exist on
the desktop machine.

net use * \\desktop\share /u:desktop\username *

Thanks so much!

Do I just do the following?

start/run \\desktop\share /u:laptop\username? Where
desktop = the name of the pc as identfied on the network
and the share is the name of the volume that has been
shared? is /u the switch?
