You can export the OE messages only if you have MS Outlook or Exchange
installed on the system. What is it your trying to accomplish with the
export?

I am installing a new hard drive (replacing the old one). Trying to get
everything in order before I do a clean install. In the mean time I found a
newsgroup for Outlook Express and seen info on a great backup site.

I'm kinda new at all this stuff so it is taking me a while to find out about
these places. Never new they were around.
Micheal Stevens has helped me out and shown me some sites. You guys are a
big help for us newusers and I appreciate it.

Another option is the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. It can transfer
your OE settings including accounts, messages and everything else except the
passwords. It will also transfer all of your Windows settings and
configurations.

The following article explains, in great detail, about how to transfer your
current configurations and settings to the new clean XP installation.
