Have used Windows XP for about a year find it excellent.
I do find when working with Word (Word Processor Program)
it is very very slow. I was wondering if any other user
has the same problem. What is the answer, how can i fix it

I've only used Word2000 and WordXP (in use currently) with Windows XP. Both
performed fine. Both were kept up to date via the Office Update site.

I'm using Word 2002 & Win XP and Word appears to be
running find. Like Sharon I'm keeping Word up to date via
Office Update site.
You may wish to de frag your HD or perhaps clear out old
Word temp files etc.

This is a Word link you may find some useful info on

Additional thought.... Is there an antivirus program running that includes
protection for MS Office macro viruses? Is the macro protection turned on in
Word? If yes to both questions, turn off one or the other. Running both can
cause a slowdown.

On my system I have Word set to monitor macros. Anything that makes it past
that is picked up by the general auto-protection (not the extra macro
protection) in my antivirus program.

I found that by uninstalling windows update 811493 fixed a multitude of
problems in XP. Nearly all of my office programs were running slow, folders
and files would not hold properties etc. After the uninstall, all of these
now work normally.
