I have a home network composed of two computers. Both are
running Windows XP Pro. I have shared C:\ on both
machines and given everyone full rights. The laptop is
formated FAT32 and the Main machine is Formated NTFS.

From Main: I can read and open all files on Laptop

From Laptop: I can read and open all files on Main
EXCEPT myDocuments. I have tried sharing my Documents in
additions to C: but that does not work.

I appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks,
John

By default, Windows XP doesn't allow you to share its Documents and
Settings, Program Files, or Windows folders when it's installed on an
NTFS partition. Main uses NTFS, so it doesn't allow Laptop to read
its My Documents folder.

This restriction doesn't apply when XP is installed on a FAT32
partition. That's why Laptop allows Main to read everything.

Since you have Windows XP Professional, you can remove that
restriction on Main:

1. Un-share all disks and folders.
2. Open My Computer and click Tools | Folder Options | View.
3. Scroll to the end of the advanced settings.
4. Un-check "Use simple file sharing (recommended).
5. Reboot.
6. Re-share the disks and folders.
