Running XP pro.
A while back I installed a Dlink router to connect a win98
pc with my xp pc. I later removed the router and am
connecting directly via my cable modem.

When I lose my connection, I see the following dhcp error
in the Event viewer:
"The IP address lease 192.168.100.11 for the Network Card
with network address 0008A11E834C has been denied by the
DHCP server 192.168.100.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK
message)."

The lease I should be trying to renew is 68.x.x.x - my
cable provider. It seems the router ip has gotten "stuck"
in my OS somewhere and the pc reverts to looking for the
router even though it's not there.

How can I clear the router info out of there? Anybody know?

thanks!!

Hi Michael,

It appears that a device on your network is running a DHCP service. Can you
ping 192.168.100.1? You need to identify this device and shutdown its DHCP
server service.

Thanks,
