I am trying to "clean" my hard drive inorder to clean
reinstal windowsxp professional. When I go into dos, i can
not format my hard drive. In win98 go to dos type in
format C: and it formats. Is there a trick to doing this
from xp professional?

Format "during" the install, after you boot up from the Windows XP CD.

Follow the link below for steps to clean install XP. You don't need to
"clean" your hard drive prior to clean installing XP.
Click on the link below, or copy and paste the link into the web browser
address box
if using the web based newsgroup.

You do it as part of a reinstall of the system after booting the XP CD
direct. Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install.
When it asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the
current partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next
stage
