XP shutdown on accessing another workgroup computer

XP Home reboots when attempting to access another computer
or printer,Win98 through local workgroup yet will still
print to a shared network printer. Has been working fine,
not sure if a bug in XP Home or if it could be a virus
that does not harm Win98 computers as they work fine. Any
help or ideas would be appreciated.
